This course reviews Trauma-Informed Care six core principles—Safety, Trustworthiness & Transparency, Peer Support, Collaboration & Mutuality, Empowerment, Voice & Choice, and Cultural/Historical Awareness—to create supportive environments by recognizing trauma's impact, avoiding re-traumatization. It focuses on Adverse Childhood Experiences and their association with substance use disorders in adulthood. Peer recovery specialist will identify recovery principles centered on hope, empowerment, self-direction, and holistic well-being, aligning with TIC's focus on strengths, choice, and community connection to help peers rebuild their lives after trauma.
